SRE Engineer – EKS – Golang – JavaScript – 6 Months – Remote
The Role:
This SRE will be working to maintain and improve an existing system focused on linear channel delivery whilst working on a new system to modernize this process. This individual will be responsible for supporting streaming engineers and will provide hands-on technical Site Reliability Engineering support to manage production observability, incident response and assisting teams with DevOps processes. This SRE will provide a software-driven approach to manage infrastructure as code, leveraging deployment pipelines, with a focus on automation. This team will be supporting the streaming engineering group that is tasked with smooth operation of linear streaming channels.
Essential Skills:
- 3-5+ years of Site Reliability Engineering experience with a background in software development and/or engineering
- Proficiency with DevOps for CI/CD deployment release/management
- Previous programming experience (GoLang or Javascript are preferred)
- Handson experience running Kubernetes in production both on prem and in the cloud – preferably on EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service)
- Experience with IaC (infrastructure as code) tools – must have Terraform experience
Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience working with Jenkins (for CI/CD deployment/release management)
- A background working in a large Enterprise environment or on the flip side, coming from a startup environment that has scaled
- Has worked in the streaming space (streaming/sports streaming/video website/broadcasting)
- Prior experience using Helm, kubectl, awscli, and other industry standard tools to automate and manage Kubernetes applications and clusters
- Previous experience using both relational and NoSQL like databases
- Coding experience (Go, JavaScript)
