SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEER (AWS) – REMOTE – £550 INSIDE IR35 – UK
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team with a focus on cloud cost management and effective resource utilization. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of AWS (Amazon Web Services), expertise in both Linux and Windows operating systems, with a particular emphasis on Linux shell scripting and containerization technologies and will be responsible for providing insights into cloud spending, ensuring effective resource use, and optimizing overall cloud expenditure without compromising performance or reliability.

Scope and Key Responsibilities:
* Cloud Spending Insights:
o Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud expenditure across a portfolio of services.
o Provide actionable insights on cloud spending patterns and trends.
o Help produce and maintain cloud spending dashboards and illustrate cloud spending improvements over time.
* Effective Cloud Resource Utilization:
o Assess and optimize the allocation and utilization of cloud resources.
o Implement strategies for scalable and efficient use of cloud infrastructure.
o Ensure high availability and performance of cloud services through effective resource management.
* Optimization of Cloud Spending:
o Identify opportunities for cost savings and optimization in cloud infrastructure.
o Develop and implement automated solutions for cost management and reduction.
o Collaborate with development, operations and support teams to integrate cost-effective practices into the software development lifecycle.
* Linux and Windows OS Management:
o Manage and optimize cloud resources across both Linux and Windows environments.
o Utilize Linux shell scripting to automate and streamline operations.
o Leverage containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to enhance resource efficiency and scalability.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role, with a focus on cloud cost management and optimization.
* Good understanding of Linux shell scripting and management of Linux operating systems.
* Experience with Windows operating systems in a cloud environment.
* Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker applied in various scenarios:
o ci/cd
o development environment s
service hosting
* Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud) and their cost management tools.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
* Github/stackoverflow/technical blog presence welcome.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with IaC (infrastructure as code) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
* Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (e.g., OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
* Certifications in cloud platforms welcome
