Currently a media company I represent are on the lookout for an Infrastructure L3 Engineer to join their team on a 6 month contract.

This opportunity will require 2-3 days a week onsite in London.

The infrastructure engineer will be part of the team responsible for implementing the global Infrastructure project. Working with the Server and Storage Manager, Project Technical manager, hub and market-based offshore delivery teams, the role will implement a standard set of infrastructure systems including Nutanix hyperconverged storage, compute and virtualisation; Veeam backup and recovery to AWS; and file migration to cloud storage gateway.
Important Information: In the initial stages the role will require a heavy focus on Technical Discovery (deep dive discovery of existing Compute & Storage infrastructure & application servers in each Market. Key output will detailed technical asset inventory to enable migration planning and Service Transition handover to the global support teams.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

? Carry out deep dive technical discovery on current systems, storage, network connectivity to Produce technical asset inventory for each Market to help inform migration planning.
? Work alongside Network, Devops, Server and Storage team and market teams to implement the design, along timelines identified by the Technical project manager.
? Working with implementation partners and markets teams to oversee hardware implementation.
? Support the planning & perform migration of file data to storage gateway
? Support the planning & perform migration of VM’s to On-prem Nutanix / AWS.
? Support storage resources to implement Veeam backup, policies and schedules
? Carry out the migration of all servers, storage and services to new On-prem & AWS platforms.
? Support storage resources to perform the installation of environmental monitoring
? Ensure design is documented for individual markets – with focus on On-prem & AWS infrastructure and network connectivity.
? Assist with transition support to BAU support teams.
? Assist with the decommissioning of old systems and hardware to be ready for secure disposal.

Essential Skills & Requirements
? High level of technical documentation & data analysis skills.
? Experience of storage and file server migrations
? Minimum of the 5 years experience supporting server and storage environments
? Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
? Strong Windows and Linux skills diagnosis skills
? Strong Virtualization skills (VMware or HyperV), Nutanix Acropolis an advantage
? Strong Storage skills across different platforms such as SAN, NAS, HCI, FC, ISCSI, backups technologies such as Veeam, Volume Shadow copy, Snapshots and tape/archive systemsWide experience of network, servers, storage and virtualization
? Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security
? Experience of supporting large Apple Mac environments connecting to storage and server environments with fault finding and resolution skills
? Experience of implementing resilience and High Availability
? Experience working AWS and other IaaS platforms
? Must possess good time management, problem solving and communication skills
? Strong working knowledge of ITIL Incident, Problem and Change Management
? Ability to think creatively and design unique solutions to complex problems
? Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with co-workers, managers and colleagues within the business.
? Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a fast-moving, rapidly changing environment
? A self-starter and ability to manage multiple demands with the ability to prioritise.
? Experience working with a geographically dispersed, culturally varied team & customer base across multiple timezones.
? Must excel working in a team environment.
